Technical Insulation Consultancy

Independent Engineering Assessment & Field Supervision Services

In industrial facilities, the most critical weak link in insulation systems usually emerges not at the design stage but during application. Incorrect material installation, faulty detail work, unsupervised cladding connections and overlooked expansion points — each of these can turn into CUI, condensation damage and unexpected downtime costs over time.

ERATHERM's Insulation Consultancy and Field Supervision service manages this risk at its source. Combining our field experience of over 1 million m² with our academic engineering foundation, we provide technical assurance at every step from the design stage to commissioning. Because we know that every unsupervised application detail becomes a compounding cost item in the long run.

Why Independent Insulation Consultancy?

An Impartial Technical Bridge Between Contractor, Owner and Project Management

On large-scale projects, insulation subcontractors work under time and cost pressure. An independent consultant produces the right answers to the right questions under that pressure.

?

Does the applied insulation system match the technical specification exactly?

?

Is the selected material the correct choice under real site conditions and the process temperature range?

?

Are the cladding connections compliant in terms of water-tightness and mechanical strength?

?

Are expansion points applied at the locations predicted by thermal expansion calculations and in the correct detail?

?

In high-CUI-risk zones, are vapor barriers and drainage points complete?

?

When material outside the Approved Material List (AML) arrives on site, is it detected?

Field Supervision Details

Field Inspection Report — What Do We Look At?

Every detail overlooked during field inspection becomes a compounding cost item during operation.

Material Delivery Inspection

Checking that incoming insulation materials match the specification, plus storage conditions and damage control. Detection and reporting of any use outside the Approved Material List (AML).

Application Stage Inspection

On-site verification of layer sequences, weld-pin spacing, wire mesh, aluminium cladding overlap distances, screw spacing, weather-sealing tapes and expansion gaps.

CUI Risk-Zone Inspection

Dedicated CUI tracking on systems operating in the 60–120°C range, exposed to the open environment or to periodic wetting; inspection of cladding seams, flange cover details and insulation termination points.

Photo-Documented Field Report (FIR)

After each inspection visit, a detailed Field Inspection Report documenting deficiencies, non-conformities and required corrections. Every non-conformity is recorded with an NCR.

NCR Management & Close-Out Tracking

Issuing Non-Conformance Reports, tracking corrective actions and managing the close-out process. A transparent tracking mechanism for project management.

Thermographic Audit Integration

Spot measurement with an IR camera during inspection visits; a priority repair plan and energy-recovery potential calculation for the damaged zones identified.

Global Delivery Model

From remote document review and online engineering audits to on-site supervision missions — we deliver assurance across borders.

"No matter where your facility is, we can review your insulation design remotely and dispatch our supervisors for critical on-site inspection and commissioning."

Remote Document & Spec Review

Pre-job engineering review, specification analysis, method statement and ITP review delivered fully online — in English or Turkish — before any site mobilization.

Online Audits & Photo/Video Evidence

Live online review meetings plus structured photo/video and thermographic evidence exchange, enabling accurate remote assessment and NCR follow-up without an early site visit.

On-Site Supervision Missions

We dispatch our own specialist supervisors for critical inspection windows, hold points and commissioning, and can coordinate vetted local inspectors for routine coverage under our supervision.

English Technical Reporting

FIR, NCR, thermographic audit and defect reports issued in English as standard — ready for insurance, legal compliance and maintenance planning across jurisdictions.

Owner's Engineering for EPC & Tenders

Frequently Asked Questions

Working with ERATHERM Consultancy Internationally

Coverage, delivery model, standards, documentation and owner's engineering — the questions international clients ask most.

Why is independent insulation consultancy necessary?
On large-scale industrial projects, insulation subcontractors usually work under time and cost pressure. An independent consultant forms an impartial technical bridge between contractor, owner and project management, ensuring that compliance with the specification is verified and that risks are managed at their source.
Which stages does your field supervision service cover?
Material delivery inspection, application-stage inspection (weld pins, wire mesh, overlap distances, expansion gaps), CUI risk-zone focused inspection and a photo-documented Field Inspection Report (FIR) after each visit. Identified non-conformities are recorded with an NCR and tracked to close-out.
Can you supervise our project remotely, or do you need to send your team to site?
Pre-job review, specification and method statement analysis, ITP review and reporting can be delivered fully remotely. We dispatch our supervisors only for critical on-site work — hold points, complex application and commissioning — while routine coverage can be handled by vetted local inspectors under our supervision.
Our facility is in Europe — do you carry out field supervision in countries like Germany, the Netherlands, the UK or Poland?
Yes. We mobilize our own specialist supervisors and, where beneficial, coordinate vetted local inspectors in the region. This hybrid model gives European clients fast, standards-compliant and cost-effective field oversight.
What does a thermographic energy audit provide?
Infrared camera scanning makes heat-loss zones in existing insulation systems visible. A surface temperature map is produced, compared against calculated values, and deviations are reported. A priority repair plan and estimated energy recovery are calculated, creating a reference document for insurance and legal compliance.
Do you report on technical disputes between contractor and owner?
Yes. We prepare independent engineering assessments and technical reports for dispute resolution. For damage arising from CUI, thermal expansion, incorrect material selection or faulty application, a root-cause analysis is carried out and documented.
How do you support the investor during the tender stage?
On behalf of the investor we provide owner's engineering: technical specification preparation, technical evaluation of incoming bids, contractor qualification review and Approved Material List (AML) creation.
Which international standards (EN, ASTM, ISO, ASME, NACE, CINI) do you inspect against?
We work to EN, ASTM, ISO, ASME, NACE and CINI, including ASTM C680, EN ISO 12241, NACE SP0198, EN 563 and NEN 5070. Standard references and our inspection framework can be shared during the technical evaluation phase.
Can you provide all consultancy and inspection documentation in English?
Yes. Specifications, method statement reviews, ITPs, FIRs, NCRs, thermographic audit reports and defect reports can all be prepared in English. We routinely produce bilingual files and can deliver in other languages on request.
Do you provide consultancy for nuclear or defense-industry projects with EU/NATO-aligned partners?
Yes. We have delivered nuclear-class and defense/aerospace supervision, including the TUSAŞ–TAI satellite test infrastructure, and work to nuclear codes (ASME, RCC-M). We are equipped to collaborate with EU and NATO-aligned partners under the required confidentiality and compliance frameworks.
Do you offer remote thermal monitoring or periodic advisory after project completion?
Yes. After delivery we provide periodic thermographic monitoring, remote technical advisory and scheduled inspection programs to safeguard long-term performance, wherever the asset is located.
On what days and hours can we reach you for technical support? Do you have an emergency line?
Our office hours are Monday to Friday, 09:00–18:00 (Turkey time), with support in English and Turkish. For ongoing projects we provide a dedicated contact for urgent matters via WhatsApp and email.
